Fording the Catawba

Members participate in a workday at historic Gilboa Church.

Our members are active in historic preservation efforts by participating in historic reenactments and commemorative ceremonies, maintaining local cemeteries where Patriots are interred, participating in the Patriot Records Project, and by partnering with our local library to preserve family Bible records.

Chapter members at the Historic Burke Courthouse help to educate the public about the U.S Constitution.

We participate in promoting U.S. Constitution Week annually, sponsor the DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, sponsor the American History Essay contest for grades five through eight, and the new Patriots of the American Revolution DAR High School Essay Contest for high school students, and provide support to Crossnore Communities for Children.
